The goal of the project was to design an application where both the rehabilitation patients and their caregivers, as well as the healthcare professionals, can clearly see the trajectory of the patient and the progress being made
ABOUT THE ZORGCIRKEL
The Zorgcirkel Westerhout is a nursing home with, among other things, a geriatric rehabilitation department. The healthcare professionals specialize in treating specific and often complex issues. Within this nursing home, the wishes and needs of the rehabilitation patients take priority. However, it is important for the patients to recover as quickly as possible so that they do not completely disrupt their daily routine.
RESEARCH METHODS
To develop a good application, it was necessary for me to spend a lot of time
in the rehabilitation area of the Zorgcirkel. Observing the rehabilitation patients, family members,
and healthcare professionals has significantly contributed to my research and the
development of this application. Conversations with the staff, patients and caregivers were also very helpful.
Below is an overview of the various research I conducted.
PERSONA
Based on the observations and conversations with the rehabilitation patients, I was able to create a persona. This research revealed that both the rehabilitation patients and the caregivers would like to have more insight into the entire trajectory.
CUSTOMER JOURNEY
Creating multiple customer journeys to map out the entire trajectory was very enlightening. This customer journey was developed at the beginning of the project. Throughout the process, there was room for improvement, which was hopeful.
CARD SORTING
Through card sorting, it was easier to test which icons and images were familiar to the rehabilitation patients. Thanks to these fun tests, I was able to gain valuable insights, including the design style
TESTING
When designing an application or just its design, there are moments when it needs to be tested. After I had chosen a skeuomorphic design style, I tested it based on the card sorting.
